Part 2: Slides Stamped with "April 1961"; Location New Jersey and New York

This is the second post of slides developed in April, 1961.  Five of them were taken aboard a ship transporting INS personell to incoming passenger liners to deal with immigration matters.  The last is Renda and her doll house.

Next week: the final post of slides developed in April, 1961.

This is the SS United States, which still holds the record for the fastest Transatlantic passenger liner crossing; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_United_States

This appears to be the Staten Island Ferry, which passes by the Statue of Liberty.  The ferry ships now have "Staten Island Ferry" painted on the sides. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staten_Island_Ferry

Slides Stamped with "April 1961"; Location: New Jersey

Six slides are included in this first post.  They all appear to have been taken at the house in New Jersey.

Introduction

Last year Oline gave Arlene a box full of slides.  Most of these slides were taken between 1961 and 1963. Arlene gave the slides to Marcie and David to scan and distribute.

The images from the slides by themselves are priceless, but it occurred to us that combining the images from the slides with Arlene's, Renda's, Marcie's and Caryl's recollections evoked by the slides would be a fantastic project.

So our proposal is to publish a few of the slides weekly in this blog, and to ask each sister to comment or add memories brought up by the images.  Once all the slides are posted and all comments are in, we will burn the posts to DVD, along with the high resolution scans, and distribute to the sisters.

Please let us know what you think about this proposal
